New AOIP NextGen Card To Be Announced at IBC 2011
Belfast, 25th August 2011, - APT, the audio codec specialists within the WorldCast Systems group announce the new generation of their highly successful WorldNet Oslo audio multiplexer at IBC in Amsterdam, September 2011.
“The ‘Next Generation’ begins here,” commented Kevin Campbell, Sales Director for APT. “IBC sees the launch of a revolutionary new codec card for the unit, the “AOIP NextGen” and we have scheduled several other new releases throughout 2012 which will ensure the Oslo remains unrivalled in the industry in terms of performance over IP, audio quality, stability and channel density.” Fully compatible with hundreds of existing Oslo units already deployed, the new AOIP NextGen card combines audio, IP transport and auxiliary data on a single module providing the user with exceptional Audio over IP performance, as well as amazing scalability and flexibility. It also features APT’s new award-winning technology, SureStream, which enables broadcast quality audio over public internet links, thus creating huge operational savings for broadcasters.
Explaining the benefits to the user, Campbell commented, “Each AOIP NextGen card is capable of decoding four separate streams from four separate sources or time domains, eliminating the issues of clock drift associated with streaming multiple channels over IP to a single decoder. The AO¬¬IP NextGen card can therefore decode any channel, in any audio format, from anywhere.”
With six cards per Oslo and 4 channels per card, the unit is therefore able to decode up to 24 streams, even discrete monos with independent bitrates and algorithms, from independent locations. The IP performance is increased yet further thanks to the fact that each AOIP NextGen card handles its own IP traffic, avoiding any bottlenecks in the system, and embedded aux data means there is no need for to invest in additional cards.
Commenting on the announcement, Campbell stated, “IBC is a hugely fitting venue for the launch of this, the first of the Next Generation of Oslo releases. The WorldNet Oslo has for several years now been the choice of many major European broadcasters as the key platform for multiple channel audio delivery over E1 and IP links throughout public and private networks. Key to the unit’s success has been its evolutionary design and the fact that APT’s R&D team recognise the importance of constant updates and upgrades to ensure it remains at the vanguard of the industry.
The AoIP NextGen card will be on display on the APT / WorldCast Systems stand 8.B50 in IBC Hall 8 from the 9th to the 13th September 2011.
